I am a storyteller by trade with specific interests in politics and children's literature. My degree specializes in fiction writing and through various academic and extracurricular pursuits, I have honed a skill for applying my fiction craft to academic research, lyrical essays, and young adult fiction.
I am passionate about working with words and I apply my creativity and zeal to every project I am involved with. A team player, I always pull my weight and am up for finding ways to improve not only myself but those I work with as well. I am not afraid of working independently nor seek out new projects to ensure the highest caliber results. |
So who am I?
I have been a writer since the second grade when I wrote a story about a mouse that had a runny nose which prevented him from sniffing out the cheese. But the humans whose house he was living in him gave him a Christmas present: a block of cheese! (I like to think my stories have become more complex in recent years) The next year I wrote a story about a young girl who was afraid of the dark until her father put glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling so she could sleep through the night. My teacher, upon reading my story, told me that this story would make a great children's book. Upon receiving this praise, I was determined to have my work published one day. I am still working towards this goal, writing any chance I get.
But what else?
I am interested in engaging with and capturing the world around me- which is why I decided to minor in political science and why photography is one of my passions.
In high school, I was just old enough to be too young to vote in the 2012 general election but I wanted to make sure that I was able to make an sound and informed decision when it came to the midterm elections after I turned 18. So I enrolled in AP Government where I learned about the founding of our country's government and how the Founding Father's ideas still play a role in today's politics. With our government growing increasingly polarized, I think an understanding of government and policy is even more important so that everyone can engage with the world around them as decisions are being made that effect the world we live in. I hope to use my writing to impact and make a difference in the world surrounding us.
Throughout this portfolio, you will notice several photographs in addition to my photography portfolio. I have taken and edited every photo on this site. I take great pride in my photography and love taking photos because, like writing, it is a way of showing others how I see the world.
